Fondé en 1902, le Stade lavallois Mayenne Football Club intègre la deuxième division en 1970 sous l'impulsion de Michel Le Millinaire, son entraineur depuis 2 ans.
Il obtient meme sa promotion dans l'élite en 1976 et connaît son apogée au début des années 80 ou il atteint la cinquième place au classement. L'équipe est malheureusement reléguée en Ligue 2 en 1989 et descend en National en 2006 avant de remonter en 2009.
Le Stade lavallois est entrainé par Denis Zanko et joue au stade Francis-Le-Basser.
